About your photographer
Hi, I’m Jill Meriwether!
I am a photographer of families, babies, lovers, friends, etc. I started taking Insta-worthy pictures of my dogs, and then my friends’, and then their families, and then other people I’d never met who heard about me - and now here I am.
A little bit about me —
I’m a Charlottesville native and digital/film photographer. I find inspiration in real human emotions, film photography aesthetics, and everyday spaces.
Shooting since 2001, I am drawn to photography as a method to remember and honor a past moment. While I’m inspired by connections between people and their spaces, my joy in photography comes from connecting with the people I photograph.
I like to treat all of my clients like my friends - except I respond faster to my clients than my friends. :)
My goal with each person I work with is to make a real connection, to learn about them, and to give them an end product they’re happy with. My core values are kindness and respect, especially when working with others.
Fun facts about Jill:
I graduated from VCU Arts with BFA in Photography & Film.
I have two pitbull mixes that I am obsessed with, Riggins & Nola.
I also have a wild & wonderful toddler, James, and a daughter, Virginia, who is a complete angel.
I am learning to play the banjo.
I won the VMFA Fellowship Award for my work in 2008.
My go-to karaoke song is “Neon Moon” by Brooks & Dunn.
Silliness is my favorite quality in a person, right behind kindness.
